In the structure of industrial production in the region, the largest share (62.4%) belongs to the mining industry and quarrying. Manufacturing industry occupies 34.6%, supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning - 2.5%, water supply; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities – 0.5%.
In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 1.5%, in the manufacturing industry they decreased by 2%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning, production volumes increased by 6.6%, and in water supply, waste collection, treatment and disposal, and pollution control activities, they decreased by 4.1%.
Among the regions of the region, the largest share in terms of production volume is occupied by the industry of the Ayagoz district (42.6% of the total volume), the industry of Semey produced - 31.6% of the regional output, Zharminsky district - 19.8%, Borodulikha district - 4, 3%, Kokpektinsky district - 1.4%.
In the manufacturing industry, in January-December 2023, products worth 543.7 billion tenge were produced, the industrial production index in the reporting period compared to the same period in 2022 was 13.9%. An increase was noted in food production by 35%, in metallurgical production by 5.6%, in the production of other non-metallic mineral products by 20.6%.
Growth was noted in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity by 8.3%, the supply of steam, hot water and air conditioning by 3.7%.
In the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning, products (goods, services) worth 39.5 billion tenge were produced, the industrial production index amounted to 106.3%.
In water supply; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities produced products worth 7.6 billion tenge, which is 21.2% higher than the level of the corresponding period last year.
